Coach Deshone: Boxing

Deshone has been involved in boxing for over 30 years. He started out studying Shotokan karate under Master Ronald Duncan. Moved to Jersey City New Jersey where he trained with Eugene Tokonachi, after which at the age of 16 he had his own karate school. Before going in the marine corps he won grand champion 2 times in New Jersey. While in the Marines he hooked up with Tony Lopez (former kickboxing world champion) and Jeff Gripper (also a former kickboxing world champion). Deshone competed almost every week while winning close to 50 of his matches. Deshone was a member of the Marine Corps Boxing team, where he won 80 fights as an amateur welterweight boxer. Deshone turned professional kickboxer under Tony Lopez and won 28 proffesional matches (PKA) (Kick Karate) finishing undefeated. Deshone became a professional boxer with also an undefeated streak of 26 wins training under Bob Rooney, Jimmy Dupree, Benard Forbes (who trained the world champion Mark Medal and the legendary Emile Griffith). Deshone had to quit boxing due to a severe neck injury and began training amateur and professional boxers and kickboxers.
